NorDITO Workshop in Trondheim

SEADOTs at the First NorDITO Workshop in Trondheim

On 27–28 April 2026, SEADOTs participated in the first NorDITO workshop in Trondheim, Norway, marking a key moment for the Nordic digital ocean community. SEADOTs was presented to the Norwegian digital ocean twins community, showcasing its contribution to interoperable, data-driven marine innovation at the European level.

The workshop brought together over 40 scientists and engineers from leading research institutes, industry, and technology organisations, including Equinor, Met Norway, the Institute of marine research, NIVA, SINTEF OCEAN, SINTEF Digital, SINTEF Community, DNV, and OceanBox, an SME. Discussions highlighted the need for stronger alignment between national initiatives and major European frameworks such as Destination Earth (DestinE), the European Digital Twin Ocean (EDITO), and EOSC.

Key exchanges focused on improving access to data, tools, and computing infrastructure, advancing FAIR and interoperable data practices, and strengthening collaboration across sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on better linking physical, biological, and societal dimensions of ocean systems. Beyond technical progress, the workshop reinforced the importance of building a connected and collaborative community to support future innovation and shared ocean knowledge.
